Job Description Sales Manager Job Title Sales Manager Reports to Sales Director Location Kisumu Job Purpose Integral to Pawame’s sustained expansion and success in Kenya, is the management of a hard-working, disciplined and motivated Sales Force. As a Sales Manager you play an oversized role in this regard, working closely with your agents and technicians you ensure that they are organized, accountable to you and motivated to provide great customer service as they drive sales growth. Bearing responsibility for their performance you will be asked to have a unique insight into the team’s inner workings and be well-positioned to address any shortcomings the team may face, to ensure their continued success. Key Activities & Responsibilities 1 . Activity Leadership Responsibilities • Ensure that you build solid interpersonal relationship s with your employees, allowing them to feel comfortable contacting you for guidance and any issues they face • Provide team members with mentorship in regards to how they may improve their performance and handle difficult work situations. • Manage your employees in terms of setting an overarching sales strategy and the allocation of lead follow ups and installations. • Take charge of the performance of employees, in terms of how many sales, installations, aftersale visits they execute. • Work to create a positive work environment where employees are motivated to sell and provide great customer care. • Teach employees how to properly utilize communication channels, to ensure a clear line of communication and respectful exchanges. • Act as a role model for employees and a mentor to newly on-boarded agents, to facilitate their integration into the sales force and mould the way they comport themselves as Pawame employees 2 . Activity Administrative Responsibilities • Take charge of the distribution and collection of company materials required for the execution of sales, such as installer and sales forms, or customer contracts. • Ensure the proper documentation and handling of the administrative work involved in the on-boarding of new customers and the equipping of employees with company material: phones, kits etc. • Communicate all your sales targets, leads, closed sales, as well as the projected sales avenues you plan to pursue on a daily basis to the sales director. • Communicate to the Sales Director any relevant updates in terms of expenses you envisage, in terms of: business trips, inventory or promotional material request 3 . Activity Sales force Management • Work closely with the Sales Director in the moulding a hiring strategy, analyzing closely the needs your county faces and the challenges you are facing. • Ensure that you work hard to select the right employees, who are reliable, motivated and enthusiastic, and will remain with the company for a long period of time. • Take time to engage with your employees to listen to their concerns, ideas for improvement, acting as a liaison between the men and women on the field and the company HQ. • Closely monitor the performance of all of your employees, noting any potential problems you identify in terms of performance and their cause, and passing this onto the Sales Director in your reports. • If any of your employees has not been performing well and following a thorough evaluation process is deemed to no longer be fit for work, take responsibility for the termination of said worker and the retrieval of any company material in their possession. • Ensure that any new procedures handed down from the HQ Sales team are clearly communicated to all employees and properly implemented by all of them, acting as an educator should they struggle with this. • Ascertain yourself that you are always in communication with employees and aware of their daily schedules 4 . Activity Product care Responsibilities • Keep a clear overview of the levels of stock in your regional inventory, ensuring that you communicate to HQ in a timely manner any requests you may have for more products. • Ensure that at all times the company materials in your possession are accounted for and are being tracked. • Work to have all employees display a high level of product knowledge and awareness of the benefits Pawame products offers • Pay close attention to the items that are brought in for repair, making sure your employees can identify problems arising from invalid warranty cases. 5 . Activity Distribution network management Responsibilities • Use your in-depth knowledge of the region to identify locations for shops and kiosks where products can be stored and may be sold. • Take charge of the receiving, distribution, and shipment of kits, company material and faulty items. Cross-functional relationships & interfaces 1 . Supply Chain • Work closely with the logistic team to ensure that any updates to their procedures are reflected within the sales processes. • Create processes outlining the logistic team’s activities regarding the provision of kits and replace items for the sales force, and the repurposing of repaired items • Ensure close communication between the logistic and sales team on matters such as product developments, procurement and dissemination Qualifications degree. Minimum Preferred Education • An Undergraduate degree in a relevant field with a record of strong academic performance and team leadership • A Master’s degree in a relevant field with a record of strong academic performance, team leadership and analytical thinking Experience • You have led a team before and know how to liaise with and manage a diverse group of people • You have experience sharing information with different stakeholders, adjusting your communication as the situation requires • You have experience managing a large amount of tasks and ensuring that work is distributed effectively amongst your subordinates. • You have a keen analytical mind, capable of discerning and acting upon shortcomings and opportunities as they present themselves • You have previously managed a large team of employees, showcasing excellent managerial skills. • You have experience managing a large amount of disparate tasks, involving myriad stakeholders and ensuring the efficient allocation of said tasks. • You have worked within a company environment and are used to a hierarchical chain of command and the demands it places on all the actors within it. • You have worked in a sales department before and know the requirements of being an efficient sales person.
